a few thoughts...

Why does Rylee insist on sleeping with an open umbrella in her bed?

I was browsing through some of my conservative (black conservative, that is) links and found this for brown...click here
Although I am not sure I agree withthe Robeson/Stalinist thing, I do kinda think that sums up the Farakhan, Jackson, Sharpton group nicely.... and no, I am not joining the republican party or anything like that.

Ian has started back up with soccer practice and games this weekend... he has his same team/coach and his soccer friends....

I am playing a game called Call Of Duty 2.... i destroyed brian harwood the other day. he thought he was going to kick my but like he used to in Half Like. but I had something for him this time...heh, heh...

I found that hilarious.

yeah...I know a tad bit dark, but at least we did get to see the ocean @ jekyll Island. I think that we will be returning there someday. I kinda think it would make for a great getaway
we're tailgating...its a tad bit colder than we thought it would be...
The Harwood NASCAR tailgate apparatus. serious...he has his own ambulance that he has converted into a camper of sorts. And yes, the lights and siren work.

Ah yes...the weekend was a whirlwind trip to the beach, then to the race, then back home. Tomorrow, I'll have pics of the Harwood camper, and a couple of others...

265,000 people were there (they say) and that place is huge. Its far bigger than Charlotte. FAR, FAR bigger... it was a lot of fun, and i definitely learned what not to do in regards to parking, etc for the future.

Last Call?

Ok...we're leavin here @12 Noon. We still got 2 tickets to the Daytona 500. Anybody who can leave here by then, are you game? Goin to jeykell island Saturday night, go to race early Sunday morn, and Jessica and i are probably coming back to get back to Easley by 2am. i think Brian and Jessica are staying another night down there, but that is her relatives. Bon Jovi is doing a pre race concert, and the Black Eyed peas are singing the National Anthem. James Caan is the Marshall. And the expected temperature is in the high 70's.

Daytona on the horizon

"It is your attitude, not your aptitude that determines your altitude."
- Zig Ziglar

Daytona 500 now in sight. Got the kids worked out, so I can now get with Harwood and plan our trip. Its sold out, and it should be a blast, and probably a wreckfest too.

Justice is served, perhaps?

I will always remember thinking..."NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" when I heard the news Art Shell was fired back in 94. i remember thinking that it was a bad move, and history has shown i was right, as virtually every sane raider fan would say, as well. Frack, even Al Davis has admitted it was a mistake. So...today, Art Shell is back as coach of the Oakland raiders, and they have immediately vaulted back into the #2 spot for my Pro Football rooting ranking, behind the Panthers. The Falcons and Cowboys both slide down a notch. In case you dont know, Art Shell was the first black head coach in the NFL, and he got the shaft when his players acted like children back in 94. And the Raiders, except for the Gruden era, have sucked since then. Shell says "It's coming home to finish what I started. I left coaching but I never left football. Once a Raider, always a Raider, that's a true statement," Shell said. "When the job opened up I felt our organization, my football team needed me. I can't tell you how much I feel about being a part of the Raiders organization."

"The standards are high, the expectations are high and the players have to understand that. The players have to understand what 'Commitment to Excellence' means. I have to come in here and show them the way - the Raider way," Shell continued. "We will win, we will be tough and have the ability to strike from anywhere on the football field." Man o man, I am jacked! Not since that faithful day in that bar, sitting there with Brown, watching Tom Brady steal that Super Bowl (and the resulting 5 year run they have been on) away in the snow, have i felt as good about the Raiders. AWESOME!!!!

You'd think the Muslim world had won the world cup.

...especially the way some Muslims ( the hoodlum element) are rioting in the name of those cartoons that were published. Now, those cartoons were offensive, and probably a mistake to be published, but it reminds me of the way people riot after their team wins the NCAA championship, or when Detriot wins the NBA championship. "YEA!!!!! WE WIN!!!! LETS GO LOOT BEST BUY!!!!" of course, I kinda think the Danes are going..."What tha hell?...this only happens to the U.S.? we are not supposed to be having our embassy bombed!"

Listened to the funeral of Coretta Scott King yesterday on XM... it was somewhat long, but interesting to hear from a historical point of view.

UNC loses

Well, at least we got us a National Championship last year. Sigh... my Tar Heels, the team of my youth, lost to Duke a few minutes ago. Future looks good for those guys, though.

Busch Clash Saturday night...NASCAR begins!!!!!

Pink Stork Shuffle

I just got throgh watching the Super Bowl halftime show. What the Frack was that all about? I mean, these old geezers do 3 songs, of which consisted of "YOU START ME UP!!!!!" over and over and over.... they sounded like an above average garage band. I mean, Pink Stork Shuffle would have sounded better than that. Or Smackdown.... or Even Ether.....that was pathetic. How about letting the drum corps world champs do the half-time show...oh well, that wont fly.

a little melancholy

Just sitting here listening to Tim Mcgraw, and thinkin.... I have been blessed to be able to be current with technology, etc. I have the answer to any question available within seconds by simply flipping open my phone and connecting to the internet. But at times I kinda wonder if thats always a good thing. But I digress... Interesting when I listen to my children from the next room. They talk to each other, and, except for the pitch of their voices, you would think they are 17 years old with how they interact with each other. And when you watch them, their mannerisms are so adult, especially Rylee. She will lean against the wall, with her feet crossed, and scold Ian for whatever it is he's doing tha she thinks he shouldn't be doing.

anyway, I said I was listening to Tim Mcgraw... kinda making me think about when I was growing up, and, man were things a notch different then. Didnt know I had it so good....

Don't you remember
The fizz in a pepper
Peanuts in a bottle
At ten, two and four
A fried bologna sandwich
With mayo and tomato
Sittin' round the table
Don't happen much anymore

We got too complicated
It's all way over-rated
I like the old and out-dated
Way of life

Back when a hoe was a hoe
Coke was a coke
And crack's what you were doing
When you were cracking jokes
Back when a screw was a screw
The wind was all that blew
And when you said I'm down with that
Well it meant you had the flu
I miss back when
I miss back when
I miss back when
-Tim Mcgraw
