So...Obama finally does what he should have done in the first place... and holds a presser and says "I don't know what the hell my old man crazy uncle is talkin about, but that aint me, and I'm startin to wonder about the old man"...or something like that. The whispers about Obama not having balls were starting to get louder and I wonder if it isnt too late. Now I guess we are going to see if this starts to go away...my guess is no... because it opens up the question of why did he make a 180 degree turn, and ...why now???? of course, we know the reasons why, but..once again, if you wanna be the big dog, gotta answer the hard questions, even if they are not on point as to the Presidency...
Oh...and ANOTHER THING!!!!! Obama charged my VISA 25.00 on APRIL 1st and I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY T-SHIRT!!!!!! You mean to tell me you can't have Tommys T-Shirt Hut in Chicago print me up a 2 dollar shirt and get it to me in a month!!!! Wonder if i can reverse those charges....

Becoming less and less impressed by the day... funny how the press played up the announcement yesterday as Obama being "outraged". Multiple news outlets used the same "outraged" quote, but coming from someone that watched the denouncement live it struck me as very weak, much too little, and much too late. Seemed like a SNL skit to me, with Obama saying words speaking of outrage but doing so in relatively hushed & passionless tones that completely counterbalanced the message. I saw no clear outrage, only an attempt to stop the bleeding without risking the loss of any constituency.
Despite the slew of missteps, I still haven't become convinced Obama himself is a racist monster but am thinking more and more of him as a junior politician not yet ready to handle the stresses associated with the presidency. Look at past presidents and you'll see they knew when to make radical turns... look at Kennedy declaring war on the mob, Johnson taking the bull by the horns on getting the civil rights bill passed, etc... these political moves were pretty massive shifts in direction that showed the candidates either decided to chase their secret heartfelt beliefs OR felt shifts in the nation's moral structure and sacrificed a significant portion of their past support as political moves. While I'm not saying I admire the later motive (political gain) as much as the first (core personal values), I sure have NOT been impressed by Obama getting caught in this trap... one he should have seen coming ages ago, and being so ill-prepared that he's left with a weak "deer in the headlights" look each time I see him trying to recover.
If you're going to be outraged, lets see some REAL outrage, and the willingness to temporarily lose a few votes with the high likelihood that the general outcome will be an increase in longterm votes for showing true emotion. The time for the aggressive denouncement should have been weeks ago, and in so convincing of a manner that Wright wouldn't have been left with the door left open to keep stirring the pot. Heck, while I think he should have been shouting against Wright weeks ago, I would have even preferred Obama standing up at a podium, declaring support for Wright, and telling everyone to leave him the hell alone versus the lukewarm delivery I've witnessed over the past few weeks. Though this would have done his campaign in, and I wouldn't agree with his views he would at least appear to have some spirit, versus coming across as a spiritless robot.
Using your sports analogy, Jerome, I too see the underdog vs. the favorite analogy... with Obama having used aggressive offense in the first half to build a notable lead that should have carried him to victory, but making a shift so completely dedicated to defense in the second half that he's scoring no points, bleeding away his gains, and giving renewed energy to his competition. Watched many such games, frustrated and yelling "C'MON!!!" throughout the second half, only to see the underdog lose due to failure to keep focused on the offensive charge. Think it's going to be interesting to see how this all plays out in the coming few weeks and months...
