"Shake and Bake!" - Cal Naughton, Jr.

So...watchin this Olympics thing. One of those Chinese guys is amazing, especially on thos e them there rings o fire or whatever it is they do.... but it just kinda seems that sometimes all the Chinese guys do is hop, skip and jump and they get this gigantic score....

Bernie Mac, then...Isaac Hayes. Who next?... Eddie Murphy... or how bout Chris Rock? Goodness...

The Kids start school officially for good in a week. First Grade!!!! FINALLY!!!!!

We got this boat in the backyard now. Its the old Sunliner from Jessica's family that they have had since the late 80"s I think. It should be fun...we plan to take it out some and take advantage of doing some different things on Saturdays this Fall, for a while. Speaking of which, I talked to Dr. Spede and confirmed that the Brooks Parking lot is no longer available for parking unless you cut a check to IPTAY for some football tix.... and it better be more than $350.00 too... and it will probably take a special Tiger Band hangtag to get to the spots above the Brooks Center too. I may not get over to a game til Homecoming or at least South Carolina. But of course, that usually changes once the season starts and since I can always get a band field pass, plans might change.

I guess I could pile on John Edwards, but... since someone once mentioned something about glass houses a ways back, I'll lay off... but it sure does make you wonder about the judgement at that level. Like...dude...you are running for President. Dont you think that sorta stuff might get noticed in todays climate? Not like you can simply walk out your door and go down to the Stop-and-Shop and pickup some Pringles, a Dasani grape soda and a Powerball ticket and it not get some play on MSNBC...

Grandpa writes, "Not like you can simply walk out your door and go down to the Stop-and-Shop and pickup some Pringles, a Dasani grape soda and a Powerball ticket and it not get some play on MSNBC..."

Well, actually, Jerome... think even the liberal press is admitting that they sat on this story for months knowing full well how big of a hypocrite Edwards was. Even AFTER hard proof began to come out of the tabloids(via pictures and the quite publicly witnessed 2:00am run through the hotel/holding the bathroom door shut), the lib press still gave a pass for days until Edwards came out and said something to the effect of (in my best Jon Lovitz voice), "I'm guilty... but... ahhh... back 2 years ago... like, when my wife's cancer was in remission... Yeah, that's the ticket!"

Not to mention they're letting him sell this crazy story that the baby isn't his and the affair ended in 2006 WITHOUT taking him to task with questions like, "Then why, Mr. Edwards, in 2008 are you spending 5 hours in a secret hotel room with your former mistressin the QUITE wee hours of the night?".

And as for glass houses, well that never is a reason for the liberal press to hold off from attacking conservatives for unsubstantiated RUMORS of sin. I agree we ALL make mistakes, and there are gross abuses on BOTH sides of the political aisle but the crazy bias just keeps pushing me further and further to the right, and per our past conversations I was a liberal back in the days when being a liberal in the south WASN'T cool. Want my respect, left? Then ATTACK clear wrong when you see it versus biting your fingernails over how long to hide bad behavior and quit smearing those you don't love until you're homework is complete (and back in the days of old the press was quite liberal but took pride in well done homework, as they knew the homework was needed in that day to FORCE scrutiny on just moral issues).

Not to mention that we all, conservatives and liberals alike, should be breathing down Edward's neck NOT for the common sin of infidelity but the likelihood he grossly spent hundreds of thousands (or more) of our hard earned tax dollars to enjoy his private sins while jetting around to preach to us about wanting a more moral America. Public the lashing SHOULD BE when we're paying for the affair, and more to the point a little jail time would be nice for fraud / tax evasion / etc...

Right AND left are going way too soft in today's world... seems to me we find our entertainment in watching ourselves walk right down the path of the Roman's with a dumb smile on our face as we watch Brittany, Lindsey, Paula, the Sheens, the Hogans, and all our other false idols as they quickly lead us down one very slippery slope.

I for one more and more want to get as far away from the edge as possible.

Saddest thing to me is how little I hear any public figure calling for a common sense and NON-PARTISAN analysis of the problems we face. Few folks out there like Glenn Beck and Ben Stein trying but it sure seems like they are small voices being lost in the wilderness.

Unabashedly,
John
