I am starting to really come to dislike my job. Why?... not because of the tech aspect.. thats cool... its because of the schedule. My mornings are spent piddling around the house, doing laundry and cleaning up this or that while watching the Today show... then I work in the afternoon to night time, getting home after everyone is asleep. I miss practices, homework... Band Booster meetings ( oh boy).. helping with projects for school, dinner.. just hanging out time. I dont get to see any friends because I am at work. I cant tell you the last time my phone has rang with a friend just saying hey or wanting to grab a bite or whatever... i guess they assume I am at work. sad thing is... I am. Not that i expect that sorta stuff on a regular basis. We all got families now. I understand that. I appreciate that. just sucks when I leave work every evening and realize that EVERYONE is already asleep most likely... i get home and everyone is asleep. I spend some time watching Sportscenter and catching up on Kappa Kappa Psi crap and go to sleep. I spend a lot of time talking to myself now... I think I am annoyed that I am going to miss Halloween with the kids sitting around at work... I think that i am missing the kids growing up while I jerk around at work... oh well, at least I am helping provide for them and that they are getting to do things... and i am grateful Jessica takes care of business while I am not around to help. Starting to ponder changing jobs.. but I have somewhat crappy seniority builtup at my job.. oh well... could be worse. So maybe I will just shut up and get over it...

Hard to believe NBA started tonight. This won't be over till JUNE.... my C's will be an afterthought this year... will take a look back at the Hornets and start on that band wagon while seats are plentiful to find...

You have been warned... i read this and went back/forth between laughing so hard i was in tears to being incredulous that this type of stuff is happening...

Ouch... as someone who is a member of an organization frequently confused for this type of organization (or interestingly enough, have members who wish to emulate these organizations) i somewhat agree with this article, and also disagree... I think that the groups are 95% positive in their missions and goals... and the hazing is a blight that will eventually be cycled out as soon as all the old people die off, unfortunately. The stepping is cool and a source of pride and I often enjoy the step shows, as long as they dont dissolve into something they should not be....

I have been switch to a new medicine to take daily to maintain my blood sugar levela and it has made me somewhat nauseous all the time. Initially for a couple of days it was really bad and has gotten better since then. I now only seem to go thru occasional bouts of it now... but i must admit that once i took the medicine my levels dropped almost 100 points immediately and i did feel better overall.... I must admit that I fear and now loath the upcoming Halloween and all the candy. It severely tests my resolve and I always end up giving in to eating some candy somewhere. My problem is that it seems to have become almost addictive to me.. the taste.. i think because I hardly ever taste it, it is almost like crack or something (not that I really know what that is like, to be honest... but from what I gather). And I dread my kids coming home with mother loads of candy... and the candy buckets at work... and virtually NONE of it that I can eat without feeling bad for hours afterwards. I wish I could simply tell my kids to not bring it home. To give it to charity or something. But that aint happening.. I wish I could get them to understand that all that candy will eventually lead them to be in the same situation as me. But it seems they are doomed to fall into the same trap unless I become the big bad mean Daddy....

The fall has been somewhat quiet... Soccer and usual random Saturday stuff has been the norm... as the weather cools we hope to maybe go hiking again or get out for some leaf viewing in the hills. On a slightly long range note, 2014 is looking to be somewhat eventful with Grandma already arranging a July 4th cruise AND a trip to Great Wolf Lodge in Gatlinburg... That is summertime events.

Just perusing the headlines recently.... The Telegraph .... wonder if all those people in Germany who fawned over Obama would do so now?.... Los Angeles Times... The rich people and Obama/Congress who pushed for this either dont have to use this and are not subject to it... or the poor people simply are not going to pay or ignore it and do what they have always done... leaving the middle class to pay MORE for their healthcare to cover for it... remember when I couldnt order a simple T-SHIRT from the Obama campaign? Was that simply a prediction of the healthcare.gov website debacle ? ...if they have THREE YEARS and a half billion dollars to make a website and cant do better than this, what is to be expected of the final product?.... even The Huffington Post is sporting stories speaking against Obama now and Democrats are starting to seem nervous about this implementation ...

Ryles had a "dance" on Friday evening at her school. Well.. i-man did too. Smdh... the days of cute pix and stuff are seemingly on the verge of being over....

So I am sitting here with The Imperial Death March playing in my mind over and over. I read about Syria this and Syria that. Republicans Democrats Progessives Conservatives NeoCons Fairies... hell.. everyone is expressing doubt about all this. Everyone is pointing fingers at each other. Evidence points to nerve gas being used by BOTH sides... The enemy is suddenly our ally. Obama is wanting to shoot rockets at Syria in support of people who we are using drones to kill 10 miles away across the border.... The world is saying dont shoot!!!.... Obama seems to be under some sorta mind control.... and yet The Imperial Death March still seems to be playing subtly in the background... why do i sense somewhere Senator Palpatine is laughing.

by the way, The Imperial Death March is also called "Darth Vader's Theme"

It just seems like this is some sorta movie where someone is pulling puppet strings on Obama, Putin, Assad and others... to start a war.

So School started the other day... and it really seems to be a different stage. A different much bigger school. Far more students (1400 kids)... and different schedule of classes including band... We think Ryles will be doing archery this Fall with I-Man doing soccer as well...

A great win last night.... I am interested to see how the rest of this season plays out. I have been tasked to escort the visiting bands this season, which has its pros and cons. Pros?... i get to go to the games for free, field pass thru out the game and a parking pass in the Brooks parking lot. Con's?... well... i kinda am expected to be there. This season is pretty doable because the games are actually very spread out between Thursday night games, Away games and off weekends. The atmosphere last night was pretty electric....

Something to think about....

For the past couple of days I have had jury duty, for the first time ever. This has allowed me to be home in the evenings for a change, even if only temporary...Homework... Just Dance!!!.... playing their instruments... dinner...a normal evening or three, for a change.... now back to the grind. It was an interesting couple of days at the ole courthouse. Kinda funny how the Prosecutors and Defense lawyers all seem to be buddy buddy and know each other and stuff... didnt seem like Law and Order at all...  funny how all of a sudden I-Man seems to be "ok" with wearing a polo shirt to school. He used to NEVER wear a polo shirt. Now he gets it out himself and puts it on....

I must admit that rain has been a rather regular event since May. And I for one am glad... also glad it has been probably the coolest Summer that I can ever remember. I suppose its that global warming that will next provide us with an exceptionally cool winter. Well... not sure I want that but I think it may be coming. We are also due for another ice storm event so I need to look at generator possibilities to cover our bases. Anyway I am happy we had a creek this summer and not a dry sandy trail with water dribbling thru it...

i typically ignore the Yankees/Red Sox games because ESPN is so blatantly in the tank for and seeming to care/show anything that involves these two teams... or currently Dodgers. But this game tonight has been highly entertaining....

the past weekend we had an opportunity to visit with Kristen, Michael and their family. Jessica and I (and the twins) had a great time chillin' by the pool and by the ocean (well.. marshes) in Murrells Inlet. Just simply taking the time to talk in person while the kids played inthe background (or played with their ipads) and
watched Teen Beach Movie for the 2nd or 3rd time. It's great to take the time to chat and not feel rushed to get everything in for a change....

This summer I_Man, Ryles and I have been going to the gym, or walking or whatever.... every morning. It's part of an initiative that I have undertaken to make sure they dont end up a level 2 Diabetic like me. I have also attempted to eliminate things like sugary drinks like Coke and
Sprite and promote an overall healthier outlook on nutrition.. Have you ever seen the comparison picture of how much sugar is in a simple can of Coke or Sprite? Google it... andwhile you are at it, try googling the word "askew".... i think you will be amused....  I think the next thing i need to do is figure out somethingfor Ryles to do this Fall... I know she wants to do Archery or gymnastics again... just gotta figure out how to work it in and not over schedule....

Hard to believe... seriously.. at least it is for me... that we have reached the point where our kids will actually be doing band. I always kinda thought they would. But I also never wanted them to do it simply because we did it. So when they wanted to learn to play instruments and they seemed honestly interested in continuing I always pondered if the time would come when soccer or some other thing might be more appealing to them. So lets see if they make it to the high school band from here. I suspect I-Man is a lock. Ryles will have to grow more into her instrument...

I havent written much here the past few months. It isnt that I dont have anything to say. As I have alluded to before, I often go days without talking to anyone (except my wife and kids, who I enjoy speaking with, dont get me wrong) about anything substantial. An occasional Facebook post with a random picture of who/what/where we are... Facebook does make it so much easier.

I have been at times admonished for being Anti-Obama. Well... I am certainly willing to assert that my misgivings about the President have been proven correct so far... but I have also been alarmed and admittedly scared off by the seeming sinister repercussions of people who dare speak against "The most transparent Presidency"... while I am just some schmuck the random South Carolina, we are seeing more and more that I should expect the IRS, FBI or someone more sinister to show up at my door any moment now in another show of ... well... let;s just use Obama's own words.... "I will also hold myself as president to a new standard of openness .... Let me say it as simply as I can: Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency." Um... yeah...

at any rate, I have decided to start posting on at least every other day and let the government or (gulp) my friends decide for themselves if the can read with an open mind....

I'm not a PETA guy... I aint sweatin' whether or not some dog, cat or squirrel is having to sleep outside tonight over the fortunes of some unfortunate person who is having to sleep under a bridge somewhere... But i always get annoyed by the running of the bulls thingy... and I ALWAYS say "You GO, my Fellow Taurean Bull" (well,he may or may not be Taurean, but... well.. lets not let that fact get in the way....) because it is NEVER mentioned in the romantic waxing on the nightly news about this event what happens to the bulls at the end of this event.. and is always mentioned in online news reports as almost an afterthought.  So I say that every person the Bulls take out is good for them considering they are in the last moments of their lives....

OK... so the Zimmerman trial is over. dude was found not guilty by a jury. Gotta admit that that kinda ticks me off. People wanna say that it was strictly about the law and race was not a part of it. Technically that should be true. But....

...If some random white guy wearing a "South will rise again" with confederate flag tshirt, with scruffy long hair, ratty jeans and a dirty trucker hat with Esso patch on it was walking down our street late in the evening after we have had some things stolen in the neighborhood.... and I call the police and tell them i see some suspicious acting teenager... and they tell me to sit tight... and i decide to pursue him... and the dude, stops and turns on me when i decide to follow him... and we get into an argument.... and he's a crackhead, tobacco chewing Jujitsu expert who has me down for the count and is beating the fool out of me... and I decide to takeout my pistol and shot him in the heart...not in my house, or even in my yard, but down the street.... guess where i would be sitting right now. There would be no Stand your Ground no matter how much I would shout George Zimmerman did it... i would be in jail, and I would be on a fast track to AT LEAST manslaughter, and more than likely...murder.

no matter how much people reading this... (and 99 percent of you are white) wanna say that the law was upheld, and blah blah blah... you all know that the reason so many people are upset about this becasue we all know that if it was a young hoodlum white kid, or heaven forbid, a blond white woman, i would be so far under the jail right now they might as well have me hanging from a tree in my backyard...

Business is about to pick up... Frat convention... NASCAR stuff... weather getting warmer. ..and Spring Break for the kids. Hoping to have the twins hang out with Grandma for a day... I also am thinking i need to get some more glasses. Not that my current ones dont work but they are somewhat scratched and as i may have alluded to before, I think I wanna do thicker frames... more Malcolm X like... also think I might be starting to get a lot of grey... starting to get old... sometime starting to feel old.. especially when I rarely talk to anyone... well, I do get to talk to my wife and kids, which is most importatnt. But any contact with any other friends is pretty much non existent now... I guess that is how it goes...

Yesterday saw everybody jumping on the new fad on Facebook of changing their profile ikons to the gay marriage thingy. Cute... but what.. people just now finding out about this? I think I am not finding gay marraige my cup o tea... but it is only fair that gay/lesbian couples be allowed to marry. I dont see where the "family" is going to break down cause of it. Isnt it your personal responsibility in your family to make sure it is strong as possible? If Ted and Fred are married and what not, how is that changing the values I teach my kids if i am doing my job? If i aint doing my job, then.. well... thats my fault. Not Ted and Fred's ... the way I hear some people talking they have forgotten that it used to be illegal for me to vote... or go to school with white people.. or be married to white girls... or for that matter, for those same white girls to even vote themselves... time to let this one go... bigger fish to fry...

Tonight my son was watchin' The Bible on History Channel and he went and got one of the first books he learned to read back in the day... I remember he would fall asleep reading this book and he demonstrated to me tonight that he remember a lot of the stories better than I do now... I watched some of it and it reminded me of the Charlton Heston stuff that used to ALWAYS come on bout this time (EASTER) when I was growing up... this show on History Channel is a bit more realistic in the character portrayals of people who would have been in that area at that time... um.. No Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra or Heston as Moses. Not too many white people in Eygpt back in the day... not too many white people in Egypt now, as a matter of fact....

Here it is 2:30am and I am watching Formula 1 on tv live from Australia.  I used to follow it intently back in the days of Nigel Mansell and traction control and computer controlled suspension. I used to know every driver team and manufacturer. I think I am going to get back into it and try to get to the Austin texas race one year. ... it is so high tech yet they are essentially very expensive (and fast) go karts...

I realized today that I dont read like I used to. Oh... I read alright. The internetz... but not real books on the level I used to. I have already started to scale back my tie to my Galaxy Note and not be using it as my only source of info. I think I will update my Amazon list. Any birthday or Christmas or father's day or just gifts in general can come from there. .. but just looking at one bookshelf reminds me of how varied I used to be... well... still am...

When I came across this today I was flooded with memories of a Mazda rx... coleco zaxxon.. a bunch of victories by me in backyard basketball. .. and a bunch of answers in chemistry on a calculator. ..
